Prepare rusty metal before protective coating

This rust converter is a phosphate-based rust protection primer for metal surfaces. It is suitable for treating rusty metal before repainting, where the aim is to stabilise the rust and prepare the surface for a protective coating.

Use it on iron, steel and other metals such as vehicle parts, construction machinery, ships, fences and similar metal surfaces. Loose rust should be removed mechanically before application, and the surface must be clean, grease-free and dry.

After application and drying, the treated surface becomes dull dark grey rather than metallic shiny. It can later be overcoated with metal protection paint, making it a practical primer to stop rust under a paint system.

Application

The surface must be clean, grease-free and dry. Remove loose rust mechanically where possible before application. Apply the rust converter by brush or roller and, after drying, overcoat with metal protection paint if required.
