Frost resistance depends on more than the product. Water must drain correctly, the substrate must remain stable and the system must be installed properly. Defective waterproofing, insufficient fall or an unsuitable substrate can cause problems even with good materials.

Many problems come from false expectations rather than the stone carpet itself. Calculations often cover only the visible aggregate finish and omit primer, binder, pore filler, sealer, tools, waterproofing and additional material use.

Typical errors are:
